Choosing the right duvet can make or break your good night’s sleep. If you don’t get it right, you might wake up a little grumpy the next morning (and no one would want that). So here’s some help to choose the right duvet for yourself. The difference between a good duvet - one that makes you go “yeah, baby!” - and a poor one ( “urgh, no!") is the difference between a great and not-so-great morning.

Read on for some useful things to look for in a duvet, and find the right one for you.

Look out for the Allergies!

A healthy sleep is absolutely vital, and especially so for sensitive sleepers. Fortunately, for most of us this isn't an issue - though if you do suffer from allergies, a down-alternative (synthetic) duvet is a great option for a down-like hypoallergenic bliss. Though down duvets don't pose an issue for most sleepers, look our for NOMITE and OEKO-TEX certification for assurance of protection from allergens and harsh chemicals. For your best sleep ever, here’s a bonus tip on how can you improve your skin while sleeping

Price

The price tag is usually a deciding factor when making a purchase, and for a great range of fairly priced duvets, why not shop our collection here. Synthetic duvets tend to be more affordable, whereas luxury fills such as goose down or silk are pricier. Considering that duvets aren't replaced very often, investing in a quality duvet is a great long-term investment that's sure to pay off with good nights' sleep.

Quality and Longevity

For long-lasting quality, a down duvet is the superior option - maintaining its loft and comfort for many years, and is easy to care for. The secret behind the down's longevity is that its clusters naturally retain their shape and loft (plumpness), and bounce back into shape for a constantly fluffy feel.

Weight and Insulation

This one's a win for down duvets. Goose down is a natural insulator, and less fill is thus required to achieve an equivalent warmth. Goose down is sourced from the sub-layer (beneath feather) that's primary function is as an insulator - it's both lightweight and warm. It's tremendous at trapping heat whilst still being wonderfully breathable (so great too for hotter sleepers).

Environmental Consideration

It's evermore important to be mindful of your impact when considering your purchase. A quality duvet will last for many years and very much fits the 'Buy Once, Buy Well' mantra. Goose down is a tremendously efficient insulator thats longevity is proven, and as a natural fill it's sourcing and production has a relatively low footprint. Some may prefer an eco-friendly down alternative (i.e. vegan) fills that can be constructed using recycled materials, though they're unable to match the longevity of down, as their fibres do lose loft over time.

Having said that, choosing what suits you best is about finding the perfect balance of price and comfort, and making an informed choice is the best thing you can do for a better sleep.

So.. what duvet will you choose?
