Top Tips to Create a Peaceful Bedroom Atmosphere

Posted by Cuddledown ‍ on

Our house is our home. It’s the place where we unwind and disconnect from the problems of everyday life. Or at least, it should be. All the rooms in our home are important, but our bedroom is where we rest, enjoy privacy and spend the most time. It should be a refuge away from stress, a comfortable and calming room that promotes rest, harmony and peace.

We can create this effect in our bedroom by using colours, lighting, textures and scents. Here are some tips that will help you create a peaceful atmosphere:

Minimalist Feel

Creating a minimalist bedroom will help you find the tranquillity you need at the end of the day. This style requires a focus on clean lines, streamlined furniture silhouettes, and calming colour palettes, providing a visually clean and laid back ambience.

The keys to a perfect minimalist bedroom are order, balance and harmony, eliminating the superfluous of the space, by the use only of those useful and functional elements. This doesn’t mean your bedroom needs to be blunt or boring, you can use small touches of colour and pattern to give it some personality, as well as a display of a few photographs or paintings that make you feel good when you see them.

Neutral Colours

Colours have a very strong emotional power and are capable of producing calming or energising sensations. If what you are looking for is to create a calm environment, it is advisable to avoid exciting and intense colours when choosing the colour of your bedroom.

If you want to achieve a relaxed and warming bedroom, a good option are neutral colours or pastel shades of blue, green, yellow and lilac, that invite you to rest. You can always spice it up with dashes of vibrant colours.

Lighting

Warm, or soft white, light, is especially appropriate for cosy living spaces where we want to relax and be comfortable. It helps to promote relaxation and create a natural feel to the bedroom. It also brings more tranquillity to the environment, making the room more welcoming.

A reading lamp is also a great option to include in your bedroom, since not only will it ensure comfort when reading, but it will set a cosy, calm atmosphere.

Plants

Including plants in a room can contribute to relaxation and a feeling of well-being. Its presence brings a natural element to the room, something that generates a certain feeling of tranquillity and positivism.

Plants may also help to reduce stress levels significantly, improve the quality of the air in the room and maintain a good temperature in the environment. Some plants that will go well in your bedroom and have many benefits are; The Peace Lily, Lavender and The Areca plant.

Scents

Aromatic scents are a great way to set the mood in a room. Like colours, scents can be energising or relaxing. Aromas such as jasmine, lavender and vanilla have a wonderful calming effect. For a really relaxing atmosphere you can’t beat a scented candle.

The combination of subtle lighting and a softly scent room will really help you unwind after a tiring day.

Incorporating these tips can help enhance the space where you unwind and give yourself a break. As well as helping you enjoy a better night’s sleep.
